  About the camToo project

The camToo project is a road-river-rail project which will introduce a new bus route from the Science Park to the City Centre using Newmarket Road and going past a new Cambridge Parkway rail station north of the river, providing greater capacity for rowing on the Cam and creating a protected area of green belt land.

Which of the following elements of the project have you heard about before?
  Heard about   Not heard about
New bus routes from the Science Park to Cambridge City Centre / Grafton Centre
Extension of Cowley Road with a new bridge over the railway to Chesterton Fen
Closure of Fen Road level crossing
Building of a new train station - Cambridge Parkway at the end of the extended Cowley Road
Digging of a flood relief channel between the end of Riverside and Fen Ditton - effectively dualling the river for one mile
Stourbridge Common and Ditton Meadows being turned into an island
Additional walkways and cycle paths as a result of Cowley Road being opened and a greater distance of riverbank

Have you heard the camToo project mentioned by name before?

Please tick how important you think each of these consequences of the camToo project is for Cambridge's future development:
Very important   Important   Not very important   Not at all important   Don't know
  New and improved transport links
New network of cycle paths to keep cyclists off the main roads
New walking routes along new towpaths
A dedicated bus route from the Science Park to the City Centre / Grafton Centre passing the new Cambridge Parkway station
Extension of the current railway line to a new Cambridge Parkway station north of the river
More mooring space on the River Cam
  Improved flood relief
Regeneration of a major brownfield site (Chesterton sidings)
Alternative, faster, more reliable route for the guided bus between the Science Park and the City Centre using Newmarket Road instead of Milton Road
Alternative route for buses using the A10 from Ely using Newmarket Road instead of Milton Road
Alternative route for buses from Cambourne running through the Science Park, past the new Cambridge Parkway station and using Newmarket Road to reach the City Centre
Direct public transport link between the Science Park and the new houses proposed for Marshalls Airport
  Improved capacity for rowing

How important do you think it is that the Guided Bus could connect the Cambridge Regional College, Science Park, Cowley Road Innovation Park & Offices and Cowley Road Park & Ride with:
Very important   Important   Not very important   Not at all important   Don't know
...New Parkway Station on Chesterton Sidings?
  ...Newmarket Road shops?
  ...Grafton Centre?
and reduce the time it takes to get to the City Centre?

How likely would you be to use...
Very likely   Likely   Not very likely   Not at all likely   Don't know
  The new bus routes?
  The new Cambridge Parkway station?
  The new cycle paths?
The new stretch of river (for walking, rowing)?

The digging of the flood relief channel will turn Stourbridge Common and Ditton Meadows into an island and will prevent the area from being urbanised in the future.
